WELCOME TO UCLA!

Dear New Students,

Welcome to UCLA! We are excited to add our enthusiastic welcome to the many messages of congratulations on your acceptance to the incredible Bruin community that is UCLA! You’re joining scholars, innovators, educators, change agents, artists, scientists, and entrepreneurs, and we are happy to have you with us.

Now that you have accepted your admissions offer, our New Student Academic Programs (NSAP) department is your next step, and we will be communicating with you often throughout the summer. We are the department that oversees New Student Orientation and Parent & Family Orientation, amongst many other transition programs. Our goal for you is simple – to help you with academic and educational planning (which includes enrolling in your fall quarter courses), while also assisting you with your overall transition to college. At New Student Orientation, you will be advised by New Student Advisors (NSAs), who are current undergraduate students. In addition to receiving support from an NSA, you will also receive the opportunity to: connect with a variety of departments on campus who are eager to be a part of your journey, make meaningful connections with other new students, and learn more about what it means to be a True Bruin

As you get ready for fall quarter, we are providing you with a few key items for your checklist:

  1. Sign-up for a Bruin to Bruin Session – These sessions are happening now and you can sign-up on MyUCLA! They are your first opportunity to meet with UCLA students and learn about orientation, upcoming dates and deadlines, placement exams, academic requirements, choosing classes, and much more.
  2. Sign-up for New Student Orientation – You can begin signing up for a session on Monday, May 15th at 3:00pm PDT for first-year students and on June 5th at 12:00pm for transfer students. We also have Parent & Family Orientation for all of our family members of new students. Most of these sessions coincide with the last day of each New Student Orientation for first-year students. You can view our website or the New Parent & Family Orientation brochure for more information.
  3. Keep Reviewing the New Student Checklist – Make your transition to UCLA smoother by following this list of important dates and deadlines for first-years and transfer students.

We are thrilled to welcome you to UCLA, and we look forward to meeting you and your families this summer!

Best,
